India and Reliance Industries rely on each other. The company is India's largest petrochemical firm and among the country's largest companies (along with Indian Oil and Tata Group), accounting for more than 13% of India's total exports. Oil refining and the manufacture of polyolefins and related chemicals account for the bulk of Reliance Industries' sales. It also makes textiles and explores for oil and gas. Reliance Industries operates more than a dozen manufacturing plants in India. The company has fully integrated its oil and gas refining subsidiary, Reliance Petroleum, in an effort to consolidate the company's position as a major player in the global refining business.
