Cambridge Antibody Technology (CAT) uses human antibodies to develop new drugs. Using its proprietary antibody discovery technologies, the company is developing several therapies in the areas of oncology and respiratory disease. The firm also helped develop Humira, the blockbuster rheumatoid arthritis drug sold by Abbott Labs. And it has broad collaborations with Genzyme (for fibrosis and cancer indications) and Zenyth (for inflammatory disease). In addition, it has licensed a number of CAT-derived antibodies, as well as various technologies and patents, to Abbott, Pfizer, Human Genome Sciences, Wyeth, and a number of other drug firms. CAT was acquired by AstraZeneca in 2006.
