Its name is almost as broad as its footprint. Bell Aliant Regional Communications is one of North America's largest regional telecommunications services providers. Through its subsidiaries, the company provides integrated communications and information services including wireline and wireless phone, Internet access, and enterprise data. It also offers IT services to businesses through its Xwave division. Bell Aliant has more than 2 million local residential and 1 million business access lines in service and more than 700,000 broadband Internet subscribers in six primarily eastern Canadian provinces. BCE, Canada's #1 telecom provider, is Aliant's controlling stockholder through a 44% stake in the company.
