The company sets up online academic communities replete with computer-based courses, testing, online registration, and other student services. Customers include career colleges, community colleges, school districts, and universities. eCollege.com also has corporate clients who use its services to build online training courses for employees. The company was acquired by educational publisher Pearson in 2007.
