Galyan's Trading Company, Inc. Company Profile
Galyan's Trading Company wants to tap sports enthusiasts of both genders. The enterprise operates some 45 sporting goods stores in 21 states, offering outdoor and athletic equipment, apparel, and accessories under brand names and private labels. Galyan's stores are typically large (80,000-100,000 sq. ft.) and often feature rock-climbing walls, putting greens, and the like. Outdoor equipment and apparel account for over half of Galyan's sales. The company was purchased by rival, Dick's Sporting Goods in July 2004. The new owner is closing Gaylan's stores and reopening them as Dick's stores. Galyan's will close its headquarters by the end of January 2005.
