Datatel doesn't care if you're a Bruin, a Hurricane, or a Longhorn as long as you've got data that needs managing. The company, which serves higher education institutions across the country, makes software that manages information about students, finances, financial aid, human resources, and advancement. The company's software products streamline such processes as enterprise resource planning, e-recruitment, and alumni communications, serving more than 700 institutions throughout North America. Datatel was founded in 1968 by Ken Kendrick and Tom Davidson; they sold the company in 2005 to members of their exective team (backed by Thoma Cressey Equity Partners and Trident Capital).
