One of eight regional mobile phone operators created by the breakup of Brazil's Telebrás monopoly, the carrier serves more than 3 million customers in the Amazon-region states of Amapá, Amazonas, Maranhão, Pará, and Roraima through its operating subsidiary Amazônia Celular. Telemar controls 51% of the company.
