Norbord is one company that won't get lost in the woods. Norbord is one of the world's largest producers of oriented strand board (OSB), which accounts for about two-thirds of the company's sales. Other wooden homebuilding products made by the company include fibreboard, particleboard, and hardwood plywood. Norbord, which has operations in the US, Canada, and Europe, has about 17 mills and one furniture plant. Eleven of those mills support an annual OSB production capacity of 5 billion sq. ft. The company in 2004 spun off its paper operations into publicly traded Fraser Paper; at the same time the company (then called Nexfor) adopted the Norbord name. Brookfield Asset Management owns nearly 40% of Norbord.
