Hynix Semiconductor has a complicated history, including some high jinks in price collusion, yet it seems to have finally found its way in the world. The company battles to retain its spot among the world's top makers of DRAM chips; it trails Samsung Electronics and jockeys for market share with Elpida Memory and Micron Technology. Hynix still makes DRAMs and other memory chips, but spun off or sold many other businesses to avoid sinking under the weight of its massive debt. The company is diversifying into other chip markets. Hynix gets a majority of sales from the Asia/Pacific region.
