Delphi has taken the long and winding road alone after being spun off from General Motors in 1999. One of the world's top makers of auto parts, Delphi makes nearly everything mechanical and electrical/electronic that goes into cars. Its primary business divisions include Electrical/Electronic Architecture (vehicle electrical systems), Powertrain (engine, fuel, and emissions systems), Electronics and Safety (sensors, security systems, seat belts, airbags, navigation and entertainment systems), and Thermal Systems (climate control, radiators, heat exchangers). In a deal that gave control of the company to its lenders, Delphi Holdings LLP (formerly Delphi Corp.) emerged from bankruptcy a private company in 2009.
