The US-based pharmaceuticals unit of Bayer Healthcare, the company was formed by combining the former Schering AG's Berlex subsidiary with the US prescription drug operations of Bayer. (Schering AG is now Bayer Schering Pharma.) The company is focused on specialty therapeutics in the areas of diagnostic imaging, hematology and cardiology, cancer, women's health, and several other serious chronic diseases such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease.
