TNT N.V. exploded in mid-2011 and created two independent companies: PostNL N.V. (formerly TNT Post) and TNT Express N.V. PostNL continues to collect, sort, transport, and deliver about 9 billion pieces of mail and parcels in the Netherlands, as well as in Germany, Italy, and the UK. In addition to snail mail, PostNL is going cyber, recognizing that the more consumers shop online, the more parcels the company can deliver. PostNL will capitalize on the synergies between the physical and online mail world by providing direct support to e-commerce customers and retailers, offering a full e-commerce chain including ready-made online stores, management and logistics, online payment, and physical delivery services.
