Osaka Gas keeps Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe cooking. Japan's second-largest gas supplier, the utility serves 6.8 million customers in the Osaka Bay area in the Kansai region. The company accounts for about 27% of Japan's total gas sales. It imports a large amount of its gas and has production operations in Australia and Indonesia; it also owns liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals and tankers. Osaka Gas has branched out into electricity; it generates and markets power to wholesale and large retail customers in Japan and abroad. Other operations include gas appliance sales, pipeline installation, software development, restaurant management, security services, and real estate leasing. The company was founded in 1897.
