Kyokuyo won't mind if you call it a cold fish, but something might get lost in the translation. The company has evolved from a whaling interest into a broad-market seafood purveyor. One of Japan's top marine products companies, Kyokuyo has operations that catch, process, can, and wholesale fresh, salted, and frozen seafood. The company also transports its products via the company's own refrigerated freighters. Kyokuyo has taken to importing shrimp and sushi from Thai Union Frozen Products. Sales of its fish products account for more than half of sales. Other revenues come from shipping and warehousing.
