Cold outside? Specialty Products & Insulation (SPI) can help warm things up. SPI distributes insulation for the commercial, industrial, HVAC, and building industries through about 70 operation centers and a dozen fabrication facilities. Other products include architectural and acoustic wall panels and ceilings, and fire-protection products. SPI also offers customized fabrication (pipe and tank wrap) and such services as recycling and disposal assistance, warehousing, and product training seminars. Its House of Ladders subsidiary distributes stepladders, work stands, and pole jacks. In 2009 SPI was acquired by Canada's largest propane dealer and supplier of construction products Superior Plus for $135 million.
