At least there's one thing Israelis and Palestinians have in common: Israel Electric Corporation (IEC), which generates, transmits, and distributes electricity to all of Israel and the areas controlled by the Palestinian Authority. Founded in 1923 as The Electric Company for Palestine, IEC became a government-controlled (now 99.85%-owned) monopoly shortly after the Jewish State was founded in 1948. Serving 2.4 million customers, the company has 10,899 MW of primarily fossil-fueled generating capacity. Its investment programs are partly funded by international bonds.
