The cows may be out to pasture, but Dairy Farm International Holdings has a barn full of retail operations; some 4,650 stores in about 10 countries in Asia. The company owns supermarkets, hypermarkets, health and beauty stores, convenience shops, and home furnishing stores in China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Macau, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. It also has a 50% interest in Hong Kong's leading chain restaurant Maxim's. Jardine Matheson Holdings, controlled by the Keswick family, owns more than 75% of Dairy Farm International Holdings, which began in 1886 as a dairy with 80 imported cows providing fresh milk for Hong Kong.
