The gleam of chrome is irresistible to A.G. Simpson. The company captures about 35% of the chrome-plated bumper business in North America. Doing business as AGS Automotive Systems, the auto parts maker has four sites in Canada and two in the US that produce mainly front and rear impact system assemblies/modules, and some general stampings, such as cross members, oil pans, and frame assemblies. AGS also offers assembly and sequencing services. Customers include Chrysler, GM, and other OEMs. A.G. Simpson was purchased out of bankruptcy by J2 Management in 2002. The Ontario government in 2007 invested $C6 million ($5.8 million) in AGS and sister auto parts firm Tiercon to fuel R&D and job creation over five years.
