GS Yuasa gets a charge out of being one of the world's largest manufacturers of storage batteries and related products. Products include batteries for the automotive (car and motorcycle), industrial (motive and industrial power), and consumer (notebook computer, wireless phone) markets. The company is moving away from automotive batteries in favor of fuel cells, power supplies, and rectifiers. GS Yuasa makes a rechargeable lithium polymer battery only 2mm thick. The global manufacturer boasts more than 80 subsidiaries and 40-plus affiliates. The company was formed in the 2004 merger of Japan Storage Battery Co. Ltd. and Yuasa Corporation.
