It takes Mother Nature millions of years to brew a barrel of oil, but DynaMotive Energy Systems wants to dramatically accelerate the biomass-to-liquid-fuel conversion process with its BioOil product. Through pyrolysis technology Clean-burning BioOil, made from forest and agricultural wastes, can be used as a substitute for fossil fuels in diesel engines, gas turbines, and boilers. BioOil, which is being tested by engine manufacturers in preparation for a commercial rollout, can also be used as raw material for fertilizer and specialty chemicals. Other byproducts of the process include char (used as a coke or coal alternative) and non-condensable gases. The company has offices in Argentina, Canada, and the US.
