Cheese lovers who make a habit of Cabot ought to know about Agri-Mark. The northeastern US dairy cooperative makes Cabot-brand Vermont cheddar cheese, butter, and cultured dairy products, as well as McCadam-branded and European cheeses. The co-op has more than 1,300 member-owners who operate farms throughout New England and New York, producing 300 million gallons of milk a year. Agri-Mark also sells milk to bottlers and manufacturers in the eastern US, and dairy ingredients to foodservice and industrial clients. It owns processing plants in Vermont, Massachusetts, and New York. The co-op was formed in 1916 as the New England Milk Producers Association and became Agri-Mark in 1980.
