Renaissance Learning offers a technical approach to education. The company's educational software, designed for grades pre-K-12, is used in more than 75,000 schools in North America. Offered on CD-ROMs and on a hosted basis, Renaissance's software includes its flagship Accelerated Reader program, as well as applications for writing, math, language acquisition, and early literacy. The company also markets portable computing devices that are pre-loaded with software designed to improve writing skills. Husband and wife Terrance Paul (president and CEO) and Judith Paul (chairman) own about 65% of Renaissance Learning, which they founded in 1986.
