Univec makes a line of safety syringes designed to prevent needle stick injuries and to make deliberate or accidental reuse of a syringe impossible, thus inhibiting the spread of diseases such as HIV and hepatitis. It markets the syringes to hospitals and distributors in the US, as well as to governments of developing countries. The company's Physician and Pharmaceutical Services subsidiary is a group purchasing organization that distributes and tracks pharmaceutical samples to doctors. President and CEO David Dalton owns nearly 40% of the company.
