While there's something to be said for backing the right horse, Colonial Holdings is happy if you back any horse. Pari-mutuel wagering is the centerpiece of its business, which includes the operation of thoroughbred and harness racetrack Colonial Downs, located in New Kent, Virginia. It also operates five off-track betting facilities in Virginia and conducts wagering from these locations on races held at New Kent, as well as on simulcast races from other tracks. Colonial Holdings is a subsidiary of Jacobs Entertainment, which is owned by CEO Jeffrey Jacobs and his father Richard Jacobs.
