KT keeps South Korea wired. The former state-run monopoly is the country's #1 phone company. The company controls about 90% of the fixed line telephone service market in Korea. It is also the largest provider of broadband Internet service, with more than 40% of the market. KT's majority-owned mobile telecommunications subsidiary, KT Freetel (KTF), ranks behind only SK Telecom in mobile telecom market share. KT also provides business customers with IT services such as consulting and systems integration, and its KTH subsidiary operates a Web portal and develops online content.
