Its state monopoly snatched away, Swisscom nonetheless remains the leading telecom provider in Switzerland. Swisscom offers local, long-distance, and international voice services, as well as data services. The company boasts more than 5 million access lines in Switzerland (including 1.8 million broadband connections) and 5.4 million Swiss mobile phone subscribers. Swisscom also provides leased lines and data transport to residential and business customers, as well as Internet access, digital television, and IP telephony services. The Swiss government owns about 55% of the company.
