Retailer UNY Co. isn't uniform when it comes to the types of stores it operates or the kind of customers it attracts. The company is a leading supermarket and convenience store operator in Japan. UNY supermarkets fly the Apita, Joy Mart, U Stores, and UNY banners. Its Circle K Japan and Sunkus C&S joint venture runs about 5,300 franchised and company-owned convenience stores, mostly in central Japan. UNY also operates specialty stores ranging from children's clothing (Teru Teru) to women's apparel (Molie) to menswear (Rough Ox). Its Sagami Co. store features kimonos, furs and jewelry.
