Maruha Nichiro Holdings (formerly the Maruha Group) is the big tuna on Japan's sushi tray. As Japan's top seafood producer, Maruha gets some 75% of its sales from its fishing division. The company also provides canned, frozen, and other processed convenience foods. The company is divided into four segments: fishesry operations, food operations, meat and other products, and storage and logistics. It has fishing and aquaculture operations in Japan, China, and Alaska. In addtion to seafood, it offers beef, pork, chicken and processed meats, along with frozen and canned food. Its storage and logistics division support these products. In 2007 it merged with one of its chief rivals, Nichiro.
