IHI Corp. (formerly Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries) produces a wide array of heavy industrial machinery and equipment. About 50% of its sales are derived from its Energy and Plant operations (boilers, engines, fuel cells, gas turbines, nuclear power plant components, and radioactive waste management) and from its Aero-Engines and Space operations (jet engines, maintenance, parts, ground test facilities, rocket and satellite systems, and space station-related equipment). Other operations include logistics systems, shipbuilding and offshore operations, construction, and real estate, among others. Established as a shipyard in 1853, IHI has about 7,000 employees and 13 overseas offices.
