Diversity is the one true thing that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' (MHI) manufacturing and service operations have in common. MHI, a member of the Mitsubishi "keiretsu", manufactures machinery and equipment crossing five tracks: shipbuilding and ocean development; power systems; machinery and steel structures; aerospace; and manufactured machinery. For over a century MHI has made boats and deep-sea platforms. Aiming for land and sky; MHI produces material handling equipment, manufacturing machinery, and the backbones for transportation systems and chemical plants, as well as air and space craft. Building power plants, wind turbines, and machinery from forklifts to air conditioners garners over half of MHI's sales.
