You can't believe all you see at Elegant Illusions, but you can believe in some of it. The jewelry company operates about a dozen stores in nine US states and on St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Most of its locations sell copies of fine jewelry, although a couple sell the real deal. Elegant Illusions also boasts two fine jewelry stores and an art gallery in New Orleans. Its faux jewelry includes different styles of rings, earrings, and pendants featuring lab-created emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and opals in 14-carat gold and white gold settings. Executives James Cardinal and the married Gavin and Tamara Gear are majority owners. The Gears started the firm at a former hot dog stand on Cannery Row in San Francisco.
