Among the leaders in the wireless race, Sprint PCS Group (a Sprint Corporation unit and former tracking stock along with sibling Sprint FON) runs a nationwide all-digital wireless network using code division multiple access (CDMA) technology. The group also provides wholesale service to independent regional affiliates such as AirGate PCS and Alamosa Holdings. The Sprint PCS Wireless Web service offers wireless Internet access and content through partners such as America Online and eBay. Plagued by a high customer churn rate, Sprint PCS has cut its workforce and reinstated deposit requirements for some customers. Parent firm Sprint recombined its two tracking stocks in 2004.
