Asia Satellite Telecommunications operates the AsiaSat satellite system, which covers more than 50 countries and reaches about two-thirds of the world's population. Controlled from a facility in Hong Kong, AsiaSat has three satellites in use that enable more than 100 broadcasters to offer 300-plus television and radio channels. Customers include local, national, and international broadcasters (E! Entertainment Television, Muslim TV, TVB Pay Vision, Voice of America), as well as telecommunications service and public telephone networks. Asia Satellite Telecommunications added broadband Internet access services to its offerings when it acquired SpeedCast in 2007.
