Applied Imaging allows doctors to get down to the chromosomal nitty-gritty. The company makes automated imaging systems and image analysis software used in medical research and in diagnostic labs. Its CytoVision software is an imaging program used in such chromosomal analysis as prenatal testing for Down's Syndrome and testing for leukemia or other cancers. Its Ariol systems analyze bone marrow and lymph nodes to identify rare cancer cells and test for certain breast cancer markers. Applied Imaging sells its products to pathology laboratories and drug researchers across the globe. UK-based life sciences company Genetix acquired Applied Imaging in 2006.
