Take away the red and white blood cells from blood and you get plasma, a protein-rich fluid. CSL Behring is among the world's largest fully integrated plasma collection companies. Through subsidiary ZLB Plasma, the company collects plasma through dozens of facilities in the US and Germany. CSL Behring also develops plasma protein biotherapeutics to treat a range of health ailments, including bleeding disorders (such as hemophilia), immune system deficiencies, and respiratory disease (including emphysema). Biotherapeutics are also used in critical care settings for surgical and wound healing applications. CSL Behring is a subsidiary of Australian biopharmaceutical firm CSL Limited.
