The chicken wings aren't the only spicy items at Hooters. Hooters of America operates and franchises more than 450 Hooters restaurants in about 45 states and more than 25 other countries. The beach-themed bar-and-grills cater to sports fans and are known for their spicy chicken wings as well as their hostesses, who dress in the chain's trademark bright orange short shorts and tight T-shirts. Hooters also serves chili, sandwiches, and beer. The company operates more than 120 locations and franchises the rest. Hooters of America is controlled by CEO Coby Brooks, the son of the late Robert Brooks who built the chain. Six friends, none of whom had any restaurant experience, opened the first Hooters in 1983.
