The company is a leading supplier of high-speed automated optical inspection (AOI) systems that instantaneously identify defects in the printed circuit boards, integrated circuit packaging, flat-panel displays, and electronic assemblies found in computers, communications systems, mobile electronics, and other such products. Orbotech also makes computer-aided manufacturing software and systems, as well as high-end imaging systems and character recognition products. Customers include AU Optronics, Chunghwa Picture Tubes, and Merix Corporation. About two-thirds of revenues come from Asia.
