As far as this company is concerned, Angus beef is as American as apple pie. American Restaurant Group owns and operates the Black Angus Steakhouse chain with about 50 locations in half a dozen Western states. The upscale casual dinnerhouses offer a menu of Black Angus steaks and prime rib, along with chicken, seafood, and pasta dishes. Some locations also offer happy hour specials. In addition to dine-in seating, the chain provides drive-up take-out service at many of its units. Rancher and entrepreneur Stuart Anderson opened the first Black Angus restaurant in Seattle in 1964. The chain was acquired in 2009 by affiliates of private equity firm Versa Capital Management.
