Zoran's chips handle multimedia tasks quicker than Zorro handled a sword. The company designs specialized integrated circuits (ICs) and software for digital video and audio compression applications. Its JPEG-based products compress images for PC editing and for use in color scanners and filmless cameras, while its MPEG-based products compress video and audio data for DVD players. Its semiconductors also find their way into digital video recorders, digital TVs, and mobile phones. Zoran provides audio processors and IC cores for video encoder and decoder chips. Its customers include Funai Electric, Hewlett-Packard, LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, and SANYO. Most of Zoran's sales comes from clients in Asia.
