IDX Systems has the cure for all sorts of administrative maladies. Physician practice groups, management services organizations, health plans, and hospitals use the company's integrated hardware, software, and services, which help automate financial, administrative, and patient access operations. IDX's systems give doctors Web access to patient records and clinical information; help manage radiology departments and medical imaging systems; and automate such administrative functions as patient registration, billing and revenue cycle management, scheduling, and data management. The company has been acquired by General Electric for about $1.3 billion in cash.
