ID Biomedical wants to take an ounce of prevention and shove it up your nose. The company is focused on the development of vaccines based on its proprietary Proteosome intranasal delivery technology. ID Biomedical's lead product under development is FluINsure, a nasally administered vaccine for influenza. The company is also researching the Streptavax vaccine that would prevent group A streptococcal infection and PGCvax, that would prevent diseases caused by streptococcus pneumoniae. In addition, the company has vaccines in pre-clinical development for grass and tree pollen allergies and bacteria that cause plague pneumonia. The company is a subsidiary of GlaxoSmithKline, having been purchased in 2005.
