Provalis plc Company Profile
Provalis focuses on diagnostic equipment and prescription drugs. Its Provalis Medical Diagnostics unit makes glucose monitors for diabetics, bone densitometers for osteoporosis, and other diagnostic equipment. Provalis continues some drug R&D work, focusing mainly on vaccines, using profits from its health care and diagnostic divisions to fund its work. The company has a contract with the US government to supply its Glycosal blood sugar monitors for a large diabetes study; it is also developing a home-use version of the product. In 2006 the company sold its Healthcare division for about $19 million to Kogen, an Ireland-based pharmaceutical group.
