StatSure Diagnostic Systems (formerly Saliva Diagnostic Systems) takes the guesswork -- and the long wait -- out of diagnosing infectious diseases. The company has developed rapid blood tests for detecting HIV & H. pylori (bacteria linked to ulcers and gastric cancer) for use in clinics, doctor's offices, and other point-of-care situations. Inverness Medical Innovations sells an FDA-approved HIV test based on StatSure's technology. StatSure also makes saliva specimen-collectors, which it markets in the US (as Saliva-Sampler) and the UK (as Omni-SAL), primarily for detecting drugs of abuse. It sells the products through distributors to the drug rehab, forensic toxicology, and criminal justice markets.
