Mikron Infrared likes it too hot to handle. The company makes instruments that measure the temperature of objects without touching them -- a necessity for industrial applications, such as making glass and ceramics, or monitoring boilers and compressors. Its products include portable and fixed infrared thermometers, high-resolution thermal imagers, fiber-optic infrared sensors, heat switches, calibration devices, and related accessories. Mikron also provides custom-designed systems, specialized housings and enclosures, and software development services. In 2007 LumaSense Technologies acquired Mikron Infrared for about $65 million in cash.
