You might say this company has put its money on the sport of champions to win. Churchill Downs is the leading operator of horse racing tracks in the US, with four major race courses, including its namesake track that hosts the world-famous Kentucky Derby. Its other tracks include Arlington Park (Illinois), Calder Race Course (Florida), and Fair Grounds Race Course (Louisiana). In addition to live horse racing, Churchill Downs operates a number of simulcast networks and off-track betting facilities, as well as a wagering deposit service (TwinSpires) that allows punters to place bets online. Richard Duchossois, who controls diversified holding company Duchossois Industries, owns about 25% of Churchill Downs.
