For those sweet cars that turn out to be sour lemons, Automobile Protection Corporation (APCO) sells lemon aid. The company offers extended-care warranties (under the EasyCare brand) and service contracts for new and used vehicles, including cars, pickups, and recreational vehicles. It has some 1.7 million active contracts, which are insured by XL Capital. The warranties provide bumper-to-bumper mechanical coverage and offer rental car and towing reimbursements. The company has agreements with auto manufacturers such as Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mazda, and Volvo. It sells its contracts through more than 3,000 car dealers in the US and Canada.
