Alexian Brothers Health System -- which follows the principles set forth by St. Alexius of Rome, the patron of beggars and pilgrims -- runs two acute care medical centers, a psychiatric hospital, a rehabilitation hospital, and numerous occupational health and community health clinics in the Chicago area. With some 850 beds, the system's hospitals emphasize such specialties as cardiology, obstetrics, and oncology.
