Nowhere near the over-the-hill company that its name suggests, TransMontaigne gathers, transports, stores, and markets refined petroleum products, chemicals, and crude oil. The company operates primarily in the Mississippi River corridor and along the Colonial and Plantation pipelines, which run from the Gulf Coast to the eastern US, and through the TEPPCO, Explorer, and other pipeline systems. Through subsidiaries, the firm operates a supply, distribution, and marketing network, and provides supply management, terminal, pipeline, tug, and barge businesses. It controls the general partner of terminalling and storage spinoff TransMontaigne Partners. TransMontaigne is owned by Morgan Stanley Capital.
