Digital Angel (formerly known as Applied Digital Solutions) can help you find your way. The company develops miniaturized radio frequency identification devices used in military and commercial applications, as well as for tracking companion animals and locating and monitoring livestock. Digital Angel was best known for its microchip technology -- marketed through the company's VeriChip (now PositiveID) subsidiary -- which were computer chips that could be embedded under the skin and read by a remote sensor to check vital signs and diagnose medical problems. As part of a larger effort to divest itself of underperforming units, the company sold its 45% stake in the company to R&R Consulting Partners in late 2008.
