P.C. Richard & Son aims to beat out Best Buy. The family-owned company has about 50 electronics stores in the New York City area. P.C. Richard sells home electronics (DVD players, TVs), computers and appliances (microwaves, vacuum cleaners), and entertainment systems (portable electronics, video games, satellites). P.C. Richard also sells its wares online. In 2003 the company acquired the name, trademark, and customer lists of bankrupt electronics chain Nobody Beats The Wiz. Founded in 1909 by Dutch immigrant milkman and jack-of-all-trades Peter Christiään Richard as a hardware store, the firm is operated by fourth-generation Richard family members.
